The first discipline, Compassion, is transformed into Milk, Eggs, and Cheese. The social derivative of direct human service success should originate from a core of empathy. The existence of compassion in one’s daily performance dramatically increases the success of one’s clients. In our travels through time, it has been identified that professionals, from time to time, adopt ownership of government funds. These are funds that clients are entitled to and deserve professional empathy from professionals entrusted with the legal pathway to assist clients. The entire agency, workplace, and business entity can expect broader connectivity between all staff members from the bottom tier to the CEO.
Compassion reminds us of the extreme rewards that come from touching the hearts and minds of others; milk, Eggs, and Cheese are elements that most individuals are visually alert to; there is a global connection to its visual presence, often not afforded to many. However, it reveals the most simplistic balance for survival. Principle one is the reinvestment foundation of our training.
The second discipline, Guidance, is transformed into the compass and introduces clear cultural transparency of feeling valued and professionally respected as a member of the agency team. The science of understanding each professional role and responsibility within the agency enhances the overall success and projected outcomes for clients and the inner agency harmony. To have exceptional abilities to guide clients through a pathway to success, one must know all expectations within the agency, business, or organization’s mission statement. The discipline and guidance transformed into the compass are layered on professional awareness, anticipation, clear vision, and the ability to identify an accurate course for every client and success. This principle is a powerful collective for inner agency continuity, professional balance for direct human services, and internal global harmony.
The third discipline is Intelligence, transformed into Brilliant Light, rooted in three main elements. Cognitive, Analytical, and Critical Thinking intelligence. Professionals who take their respective profession with determined empathy and commitment to high personal standards. The Brilliant Light is within each of us; through the wear and tear of daily expectations, maximizing the intellectual properties required to guide clients toward a course of personal success is mandatory. Professionals who care about their clients and agency success will ensure the switch to their brilliant light of intelligence is on. The lifelong journey of lifelong learning is never more critical when those entrusted to enhance the quality of life for clients become successful. The brilliant light is visible to professionals, and one will find a bright harmony within the agency’s daily operations.
The fourth discipline, Vision transformed into Universal Reflection, instills the critical requirement of global knowledge directly connected to their professional status. They should clearly envision their role and placement within the agency or business. Every individual employed by an agency or business has a valued status.
The fifth discipline, Excellence, is transformed into the Radar Screen. There are countless professional events and activities that occur daily in all agencies and businesses, none of which are more critical than the responsibilities of the FCC Air Traffic Controllers. If an Air Traffic Controller fails at their job, people typically will die. Professionals will experience the hidden nuances, the devastation from poor performance, and the catastrophic results that can occur if their commitment to their profession fails. Every agency and business has an internal scientific matrix that reassures productivity and success.
The Five Critical Disciplines was designed and first delivered within the Department of Labor Workforce agency titled, Nevada Business Services, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mr. Bill Murphy, Executive Director, hired Mr. Sherman Rutledge Jr. as the Youth Department Manager. After conducting a intense assessment of the deficiencies within the agency, and similar agencies within the community, Mr. Rutledge designed and implemented The Five Critical Disciplines. Agencies were invited to register professional staff members to attend. Since the first training, Mr. Rutledge has trained professionals from throughout the country.
